New MST site makes press complaints data more user-friendly

The Media Standards Trust has today made available – in alpha – a user-friendly version of press complaints information at http://complaints.pccwatch.co.uk.

This site, which is still work-in-progress, is based on complaints data from www.pcc.org.uk going back to 1996, with additional data added (tags, links to offending articles, links to relevant coverage) for complaints up to the end of 2009. We’re currently working on complaints made in 2010.

The purpose of the site is to make PCC complaints data, which is currently not very user-friendly and is tricky to analyse, more open and accessible, and to add more context.

We will continue to add more data and evolve the site, and would welcome any suggestions as to how to make it more useful. And please let us know if you find any problems or mistakes.

We’re grateful to ScraperWiki, who built the original scraper for the complaints data – that we have since adapted.
