Alan Rusbridger

Alan Rusbridger, the editor of The Guardian, spoke on 22nd July 2009 and outlined his vision of a ‘mutualised newspaper’. He also gave support for plans to give public funding to the Press Association to provide local news from public authorities.

The lecture was covered at length by Media Guardian (‘Decline of local news may allow corruption in public institutions to grow’, ‘PA’s “public service reporting” backed by Rusbridger’, and later ‘Will journalists of the future need to know how to code?’) and journalism.co.uk (‘Alan Rusbridger’s digital crystal ball’, ‘Rusbridger on funding news’,‘Rusbridger on why Twitter matters’).
